Hello dragons!
We are gearing up for PAX East (Booth TT51) April 5-8 and wanted to update everyone before the Boston Convention Center absorbs us like The Thing. Yes. This does happen every year.
For starters, we took in all your feedback and are actively working on making the special set of four dragons available to everyone. We never want to restrict our products, and simply didn't expect so many people to want said thing. So expect the thing! They will remain free for Standard Edition backers and available for purchase by Gold Edition backers. We will also make sure that Gold Edition backers get the first chance to order them. More details to come in a future update.
GOLD EDITION BACKERS
We have been working like crazy to get all Gold Edition games ready for fulfillment prior to PAX. We even opted for faster air shipping from China. The games were set to arrive March 28, which would have given us time to pack metal into games before PAX, and ship them out to all fulfillment locations. Due to slower ship times than expected, they are now arriving April 3/4, which is preventing us from packing all games before PAX as originally planned. Instead, we will have a team packing virtually nonstop before, during, and after PAX. Your games will be shipping mid April compared to late May if we did ocean shipping. We still had the ocean shipping option as of yesterday, and made the final call for air shipping.
The ocean shipping option would have been no extra money and around 5 weeks slower, but we wanted to get these games out as fast as possible. In order to afford this, we need to sell Gold Editions at PAX East. This will allow us the opportunity to recoup a portion of the air shipping fees, while getting you games as fast as humanly possible. We could have opted for ocean shipping, not selling at PAX, and shipping Gold Editions in late May, but decided games to backers faster is better. We hope you understand and feel the same.
PAX EAST PICKUP
For those attending, PAX East Pickup is happening for all items and add-ons of orders that DO NOT CONTAIN the Standard Editions of the base game or expansion. If you ordered the Standard Edition base game or expansion, you cannot pickup at PAX.

Yes, this does include Wyverns! Wyrmwood will be at PAX and is bringing us some for pickups. All pickups will also get a free Pinny Arcade Pin of your choice to offset the shipping costs.
Just to be extra clear, if your order contained the Base Standard Edition or Expansion Standard Edition, you cannot pickup at PAX.
STANDARD EDITION BACKERS
Everything is moving along smoothly and shipping times have improved! In our last update, we said games would be leaving China late May, but now all games should already be at the fulfillment locations by late May. This makes us very happy dragons! If everything goes as planned, tracking numbers will be going out late May.
Also, we have received the solid samples and they are perfect!
We are still working on what options we have for the special dragons. A call with Panda is set for later this week to discuss this exact thing. Feel free to keep the great ideas coming in the comments! We have a potential idea planned, but we will keep that secret until we finalize it. Or would you prefer to be surprised? Shipping Update

Hello dragons,
We are going to be updating everyone in two separate groups for this post, as our shipments are being split from Panda. Please look for your respective update below For Standard Edition Backers (plastic pieces) and For Gold Edition Backers (metal pieces). After reading the update, if you have any questions at all, feel free to post them in the comments or email us at [email protected].
FOR STANDARD EDITION BACKERS
We just hit a snag with our plastic pieces late last week, and we do not know the extent of how much this will affect shipping times, but there will be a delay. We apologize as this was something we were not expecting in any way. And it pains us to no end that this occurred.
We were sent the plastic color swatches from Panda January 3, which looked perfect and we approved them. Unbeknownst to us, this package was also supposed to contain pre-production samples of our models in resin, AKA “tooling masters”. Although they were sent together with these color swatches, we did not receive them and Panda is not sure what happened to them during transit. Panda thought we had approved both the tooling masters and plastic swatches, and went ahead with creation of the molds based on those tooling masters. We just discovered this when we were sent our “mass production copies” from the completed molds, only to find issues with the plastic pieces.
Although we were quoted solid pieces, most of the samples we received (dragon, cave, totem, treasure chest) were made hollow to prevent warping of the final production miniatures. We have promised solid miniatures, so we will be investigating solutions to deliver on this promise while still preventing complications with the molding process. See the photo below. Second, the dragon skull (should be 9mm) and human skull (should be 13mm) are too small. As you can see in the photo, they are about 30% too small. These issues have also affected the expansion pieces. The final molds will need to be remade to address these points. Panda informed us this would delay shipping from China until May 21. We are actively looking into ways to reduce this timeline, including US assembly and air shipping.
Panda is also looking into getting Standard Edition backers some special edition components that only they will receive. We do not know what the options are yet, but if you are a Standard Edition backer and have an idea, let us know in the comments. One idea is to make a special set of four dragon miniatures. This would be something we will never produce again, and only backers who are receiving a Standard Edition of Dragoon will receive it.
Here is a statement from Panda:
"We’re very disappointed to have a delay with Dragoon because of these issues with the miniatures outlined above. These all should have been caught and addressed with the tooling masters, which Lay Waste Games never received. Since we created the molds from those tooling masters that did have issues, we’re now looking to rework or redo the molds, and that takes time no matter how much we throw at it.
We’re on the same page with Lay Waste Games that these miniatures need to be improved to meet the expectations of all the backers here. We’re working closely together to make sure that happens, and we’ll be supporting Lay Waste Games through the coming weeks to minimize these delays without sacrificing quality. If we can help soften the blow by working out some exclusive backer components, we’re happy to do that and eager to hear ideas." - Panda Game Manufacturing
If you are going to PAX East, we are exploring PAX Pickups. If you pick up, you would be able to get all the add-ons you ordered, plus a limited edition Lay Waste Games official Pinny Arcade pin to offset the shipping costs you paid. Your base game and/or expansion would be mailed to you when completed. We will be in touch shortly if this option is doable.
FOR GOLD EDITION BACKERS
Your games are set to arrive from China late March. Fulfillment locations need a few weeks to intake and then begin shipping, so expect tracking emails early April.
If you are going to PAX East, we are exploring PAX Pickups. If you pick up, you would also receive a free limited edition Lay Waste Games official Pinny Arcade pin to offset the shipping costs you paid. We will be in touch shortly if this option is doable.

STATUS UPDATE!
First and foremost, we are working out details with Panda to lock in shipping dates from China to our fulfillment centers. Once we have those exact shipping dates, we will update everyone. We thought we would have the dates last week, but it didn't happen. Due to Chinese New Year, it is harder to lock in precise dates, but we are working on it daily.

Now for the fun stuff! We were insanely excited to see the box for the Expansion Gold Edition, but we did not expect it to be so sturdy or adorable!
While we had our jaws open at how great the expansion box was, we were hit with the fiery goodness that is...THE BOX OF HOLDING!!!

When making games with plastic components, you are given sample swatches of each color. Here are the swatches of our colors and they are PERFECT!
Yes. That is the gold in the bottom right for the human skull and treasure chest! SO PRETTY! We also have gorgeous samples of our new Panda fabric items, which come standard in all versions of the game!
The printing looks spot on and the material quality is just killer. And we have more images! Next is the Mispelld Stickir Pak!
Instead of the previously mentioned 5 stickers, you get 10! We are including small and large versions of the Rowg and Draggin because they are cuties.
What else can we show you?? OH RIGHT! The Wyvern! These images are straight from behind the scenes at Wyrmwood, a special place that is rarely seen.
Pictured above is just the base game components, but Wyvern backers will receive both base and expansion Gold Editions in the Wyvern. The inside area will also be getting foam added to keep everything neat when closed. Sweet sweet foam. Do not eat the foam!

We are back with an important update! But wow are we tired. Beyond finalizing files for Dragoon, we flew to Essen Germany for Spiel and attended Metatopia in New Jersey, all while carrying more metal than you care to know about.
But fear not fellow dragons! Panda is working diligently on Dragoon, which feels so good! But now we are playing the waiting game with all of you until the pallets are dropped into our cave. So while we all sit, dreaming of dragons, what better way to celebrate than with a new game...NEXT WEEK!
We have mixed time travel, social deduction, and stupid humans and here is the result. Our excitement is at an all time high because this is our first game outside of the Dragoon world...or is it? Human Era has gone through many major changes since its inception, and over the past months, we have turned it into something wildly fun. A special thank you to all the backers who playtested this early on. Your feedback was crucial and you helped shape this game in a big way.

Production Update + Human Era Print-And-Play

Hey dragons,
A number of items to get to, so let’s dive right in.
Production Update
As most of you already know, our production company for Dragoon has been AdMagic for the past few years. We are now switching to Panda. They are another stellar company that has produced amazing games like Scythe, Dead of Winter, and Above and Below. Due to this change, Kickstarter fulfillment for all items is going to be delayed by about 4 months. We are still working out the details, and will keep you in the loop as always.
The reason for this switch is both very uncommon and unavoidable. A factory that AdMagic was working with raised their prices by a sizable amount for Dragoon in recent weeks. We tried to financially make it work, but ultimately could not afford the drastic increase. AdMagic has since stopped working with that factory. Now, in order to turnaround around Dragoon with time, quality, and cost in mind, we need to make a switch.
There were many factories we could have chosen over Panda, but with others, quality, price, and/or timing did not line up. Our goal is to get you the best quality game possible. Period. We did not want to go with factories that offered faster turn around times, but lowered the quality you all expect from Lay Waste Games.
We are in the process of switching over assets, and preparing preproduction copies from Panda. Once ready, we will be sure to send out photos and details. In the meantime, toss any questions below and we will be more than happy to answer.
While Jon has been focusing on Dragoon production, Jake, Nick, and Zach have been hard at work with Human Era. And we're looking for your feedback! As backers of Dragoon and the expansion, your thoughts are extremely valuable. To get a print and play copy of the current Human Era prototype, please join our Facebook group below.
The print-and-play will be ready in the coming weeks. If you join the group, you will be the first to get it! The launch date of Human Era is still undetermined, so please stay tuned.
We have played this game a number of times with the designer Marshall Britt, and it is killer. Here is the breakdown.
Re-Chord is a strategy boardgame for 2-4 players which plays in approximately 30-45 minutes. Each player is a budding guitarist for one of the various genres of music. Using real guitar picks and chords, guitarists have to use cunning and clever strategies to become the most popular guitarist of all time.
Not only does this game draw you in with strategy, the addition of real guitar picks truly puts it over the top for us. You definitely don’t need to play guitar to love this game. They just launched, so check it out on Kickstarter here!
